Dear Neighbors,
Since elected as your City-County Councilman, I have been honored to represent the hardworking residents of Council District 1. I am proud to say that over the past three years, I have kept my campaign promise to you, "Putting Our Neighborhoods First."
I am happy to report Environmental Solutions, Inc.; (ESI) has shut their doors – no more odor from that facility. Thanks to the combined efforts of the Pike Township Fire Department, the Department of Code Enforcement, Pike Township Residents Association and dozens of community leaders, we were able to bring attention to ESI's negligent operation. While none of us are enamored with a business failure, especially when residents lose their jobs, this company was intentionally violating regulations and was financially unable to comply. Therefore, they were a safety detriment to our city and local community. District 1 residents who have been most impacted by ESI's odor are now breathing easier!
At the Zionsville Town Hall meeting regarding the proposed Cooper Road Interchange, I represented the residents of District 1 and expressed my opposition to the proposed 865 interchange. District 1 residents where concerned for the integrity of our neighborhoods. Construction of the proposed interchange would have a significant negative impact on our property values and disrupt what has been a happily quiet rural lifestyle. Because of the collaborative and unwavering efforts of District 1 residents, as of date, the Town of Zionsville will remove the proposed 865 interchange from its transportation plan.
As a member of the Economic Development committee, I voted to authorize the issuance of one or more series of Economic Development Revenue Bonds for Harlan Bakeries, LLC. These bonds will not exceed $14 million and will support the design, construction, renovation, improvement, new building equipment and expansion for the location at 7575 Georgetown Road. With the help of these bonds, I was able to help this company expand their business, compete for more contracts and increase the opportunity to bring more jobs to our neighborhoods.
Finally, as you already know, we face serious economic and social challenges that affect our ability to make ends meet, raise our families and live our dreams. Despite many challenges, I start every day with even more energy to fight for our Northwest neighborhoods and people and will continue to stand up for the thousands of families and hardworking individuals that make up District 1.
